Exclude Russia and Belarus from international sport

The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) demands the immediate exclusion of Russia and Belarus from the international sport family until further notice.

We call on the international sport federations to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions for the time being and to suspend Russian and Belarusian sport officials from their positions.

Worldwide sanctions in all societal fields are all the more effective, if more social actors participate in them. The goal of ending the war in Ukraine as quickly as possible justifies this step, even though it also affects athletes who are not responsible for this war. Sport must also fulfill its responsibility and accept the resulting restrictions.

Furthermore, the DOSB intends to set up a fund to provide immediate humanitarian support for Ukrainian athletes.
