DEVELOPMENT AID

The IOC as well as certain groups of NOCs have set up bodies which are engaged with projects of development aid in sport in the whole world. It is considered as an important task by the NOC to assist above all young non-European countries in their preparation for and participation in the Olympic Games. Moreover it organizes seminars and carries out short-term and long-term projects.

These tasks are realized in common with the German Sports Confederation and on consultation with the Federal Government - which finances these projects for the most part - and the national sports federations. Other partners and financial backers joined in the development aid projects to which belong the IOC with its program Olympic Solidarity, the technical cooperation agreed upon among the west-European NOCs as well as the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Stiftung which carry out projects together with the NOC in order to improve the structure in developing countries.
