OLYMPIC EDUCATION

A good old tradition fosters the relation to the ancient sites in Olympia where NOC and DSB played a part from 1956 to 1961 in the excavations of the stadium and the places of worship as well as in setting up the International Olympic Academy. In the courses of the Olympic Academy, organized annually since 1961, the NOC participates with selected, well-prepared representatives and with a large number of highly qualified lecturers.

For several years the image of the Academy had been marked by the NOC-member HRH Prince Georg Wilhelm von Hannover. The work of the IOA is continued by the organization of national and regional sessions for former IOA-participants and other multipliers - for example pedagogues - on olympic subjects in general and the olympic education in particular.

In order to further spread the olympic body of thought pupils competitions and school projects (Olympic Days, Olympic Weeks) are carried out by the NOC with great success; the same goes for the publication of didactic and methodical booklets and information brochures.
